"Woody" and Betty Woodard founded their Datura (named after their street) Miniature Schnauzers with a very nice little female, Rising Sun Dazzling Display - "Dixie" - who came from Shorlaine breeding.  Her dam was Shorlaine Bee Bee Gunn (see SHORLAINE MS) and was sired by a "Danny" (Dynamic Flash) son.  Dixie produced 6 champions herself and was behind all 25 of their homebred champions.  The Datura dogs became influential in contributing to several other breeding lines.  The Woodards had started out in obedience work (where I met them) and became interested in breeding them.  Their granddaughter, Allison, shown above in the photo, loved the dog shows and participated in Junior Handling, doing quite well.  She holds "Tanner's" (Devastator) BB trophy, a drawing done by Lori Bush.  This was the FWCMSC Specialty held in June, 1990 with the FL Combined Specialties
Among "Dixie's" 6 champions was her daughter by CH Shorlaine Dynamic Flash, CH DATURA'S NIGHTIN' GALE,  who was the dam of 3 champions.
Nightin' Gale's outstanding daughter by CH Tomei Super Star, CH DATURA'S STAR LIFTER, finished her championship very quickly shown exclusively by Lori Bush.  She then went on to become a top producer of 7 champions, including her son, Devastator shown above, sired by CH Penlan Polarity.  His litter brother, CH Datura's Falcon of Shorlaine, owned by Lori, also finished quickly.  Their sister finished not long after. The many succeeding generations of Datura schnauzers were the result of various combinations of News Flash, Danny and several of the Penlan dogs, predominant among those was CH Penlan Peter Gunn.
Two of the Datura dogs were winners at our FL. West Coast MSC Specialties. CH DATURA'S DELTA DART was BW in 1988 and CH Datura's Devastator was BB in the June 1990 show, both handled by Lori.  Over the years Lori handled several of the Datura dogs. Claudia Seaberg handled a great many of them and after her retirement the Hirsteins finished several more.  The Woodards were very active in the Club, Woody being President for a few years, then Treasurer, later taken on by Betty.  Both contributed hours and hours of work.  Their breeding program has ended but they still have two of their dogs, now older and enjoying life as loving companions.
